Rehab a Wooden Moulding Plane
Friday, July 20, 2018

Ogee, it's plane to see there's an ovolo of wooden planes out there! Jokes aside, understanding wooden
moulding planes can be a little confusing. Ron gives you information about the different kinds of profiles
(the shapes cut by different planes), some of the major manufacturers of wooden moulding planes, how to
use different planes for different results, how to use sprung and unsprung varieties and the ergonomics of
proper planing. He then provides a hands-on session on how to properly rehab a wooden moulding plane
from flea-market find to a well-tuned and working tool, including evaluating prior to purchase, cleaning the
body, fixing or replacing wedges and sharpening the irons (blades). Bring your own plane to work on, or one
can be provided for your use during class. Attendees will take home a glossary of plane profiles and
   8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Classes include lunch, drinks and snacks. Please let us know if you have special dietary requirements.
Deadline for Registration: 6:00 PM Monday, July 16
